🌿 Optimism: Building Strength in Body and Mind
Jo Steele | MAY 7
I’m ready for my next yoga block, I already know it's going to be a good one.
The theme is optimism.
People sometimes think that optimism means “everything is amazing all the time”… but I don't agree. Being optimistic doesn't mean we're always happy and positive and we're blessed with a perfect life.
When we feel real optimism, we know that life can be hard.
We see the challenges clearly… but believe they can be overcome.
And I think that’s something many of us need right now.
It’s so easy to slip into stress, overthinking and focusing on everything that’s not going right. Our brains are wired that way, to spot problems, to keep us safe.
But when we stay in that space for too long, it feels hard.
We feel tired.
Overwhelmed.
Stuck in negative loops that are hard to break.
That’s where optimism comes in. Believing that things can get better.
Life can improve.
That we can cope.
That we’ll find a way through.
And that belief? It’s powerful.
This is exactly where yoga and strength training come in.
It’s quite simply about how we feel in our bodies.
Yoga helps to calm and regulate the nervous system.
It creates space, slows things down and brings a sense of clarity.
Strength training, on the other hand, builds resilience.
It reminds you that you’re capable.
That you’re stronger than you think.
That you can do hard things.
And when you start to feel stronger and calmer physically, something shifts mentally too.
You begin to:
✨ Think more clearly
✨ Feel more in control
✨ Respond rather than react
✨ Notice more of the good
That’s how optimism starts to grow in a natural way.
And let’s not forget the power of hypnotherapy to support shifts in mindset.
By reducing the amount of stress in our buckets, we have the ability to think more clearly, solve problems and make better decisions… you can see how this would lead into feeling more optimistic about life!
To build optimism, we don’t need the world around us to change, we start with ourselves ❤️
Powerful, eh?
The beauty of this approach is that it doesn’t require a complete life overhaul.
It’s the small, consistent things that make the biggest difference:
A short yoga flow
A quick strength session
A walk outside
A moment to pause and breathe
Even just showing up for 10 minutes can shift your whole day.
And because life is busy, this is exactly why I’ve created my membership the way I have.
Yes, there are live classes to keep you motivated and connected.
But you’ll also find a library of short, effective sessions you can dip into whenever you need them.
So whether you’ve got:
– 10 minutes for a quick weights session
– A burst of energy for some plyometrics
– Or you just need to slow down with yoga or relaxation
I’ve got you covered 💛
It's doable and sustainable and I'm here to support you every step of the way!
